GEORGE TOWN: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil will donate his RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) aid to those in need.
“I have not redeemed mine. But God willing, I will donate it,” he said to reporters after handing over assistance from the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA fund to a Kwong Wah Yit Poh reporter here today.
The minister’s decision follows similar moves by other politicians.
PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari also agreed to donate their Sara aid, with the former inviting other PKR elected representatives and those with means to do the same.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has also channelled his aid.
Earlier, Fahmi spent time with the reporter, Choo Kar Chun, who has been suffering from a hearing problem since last year, which affects his ability to communicate.
