Fahmi criticises TikTok for weak response on cyberbullying

KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Fadzil criticised TikTok for not taking proactive steps to address safety concerns, citing the case of A. Rajeswary, also known as “Esha,” who died last year after months of cyberbullying.

“They promised that the number of moderators responsible for monitoring TikTok Live sessions would be increased but have not been able to give us the total number of moderators involved,” he told reporters.

The issue was raised during a meeting at Bukit Aman today involving TikTok representatives, police, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
