ALOR SETAR: About 100,000 visitors are expected to travel to Langkawi Island using passenger ferry services in conjunction with the Malaysia Day public holiday and the school break.

Konsortium Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd operations manager Lt Commander (Rtd) Norhafiz Abdul Wahid said the figure included both domestic and international visitors entering Langkawi from Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis routes.

“A total of 118 additional ferry trips have been made available in the ticketing system. We expect the number of visitors to exceed 100,000 if more night trips are added.

“Ferry operations will run from 7am to 7pm, and may be extended until 10pm depending on high demand for online ticket sales. This is to accommodate visitors planning their holiday in Langkawi,” he said in a statement Sunday (Sept 14).

He said the company would ensure ferry operations remained in full swing throughout the public holiday and school break.

“Visitors who wish to purchase tickets online may download the Cuti-Cuti Langkawi application or visit the website www.cuticutilangkawi.com, or buy tickets directly at the ticket counters at the Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis ferry terminals,” he said. – Bernama
