KUALA LUMPUR: Former senior political secretary to the prime minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin is expected to give his statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya tomorrow afternoon.
The matter was confirmed by MACC senior director of investigations Datuk Zainul Darus when contacted today.
It is learnt that Shamsul Iskandar was originally scheduled to provide his statement today, but he was in Sabah and was unable to return in time.
Shamsul is one of three individuals summoned by the MACC to assist investigations into a video clip of a conversation between a woman and businessman Albert Tei.
The woman, identified as Sofia Rini Buyong, arrived at the MACC headquarters at 2pm today, and as of 8pm, the statement-taking process was still ongoing.
Albert is expected to be present at the MACC headquarters on Monday to have his statement recorded.
Tei had reportedly claimed that he had handed RM629,000 to the former senior political secretary after being assured that funds channelled to several politicians in Sabah could be recovered.
Screenshots of WhatsApp conversations and several photographs said to support the allegations have also been circulated.
On Tuesday, Shamsul Iskandar confirmed that he had submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, following attempts to attack his reputation with matters that could tarnish the image of the Madani government.
