KANGAR: Former Bintong assemblyman Fakhrul Anwar Ismail is mulling legal action following his expulsion from Pas, which led to his disqualification as an elected representative.
The former Perlis Pas secretary briefly confirmed his position in a text message but declined to issue a formal statement on the matter.
“Under consideration,” he said when contacted.
Previously, Pas sacked Fakhrul and two other former Pas assemblymen, Saad Seman (Chuping) and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji,) after they withdrew support for then Perlis menteri besar Mohd Shukri Ramli of Pas.
Saad and Ridzuan have been tight-lipped over challenging their sackings from Pas.
Meanwhile, Perlis Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman Abu Bakar Hamzah, who is also the menteri besar, said he will wait to see if the trio will take the matter to court.
He said in any case, the state government will need assistance in managing the three state constituencies if they remain vacant.
He added that service centres would be opened in the three constituencies with coordinators appointed from Pas.
For the record, Fakhrul previously served as a state executive councillor during the first year of the PN administration.
Saad was the Perlis Pas deputy commissioner I, Padang Besar Pas chief, and Perlis PN deputy chairman II.
Ridzuan, the Perlis PN information chief, was appointed the state Youth and Sports, Science, Technology, and Innovation Committee chairman earlier this year.
