Ex-PA claims trial to CBT charge involving RM25,000

KUALA LUMPUR: A former personal assistant claimed trial at the Sessions Court here on Wednesday (Oct 15) to a charge of criminal breach of trust involving RM25,000 that belonged to a company.

Roziyanti Hussin, 37, who was a personal assistant and office administrator, was accused of CBT by transferring RM25,359.95 from the company’s account to her own bank account.

She allegedly committed the offence at an office at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng here, between July 7 and Aug 23.

The charge under Section 408 of the Penal Code carries maximum 10 years imprisonment, whipping and fine, if convicted.

Deputy public prosecutor M. did not offer bail on grounds that the bail was a non-bailable offence but proposed a RM15,000 if the court decides to use its discretion to grant bail.

Lawyer Aizat Aiman Johan, who represented the accused, pleaded for a lower bail amount.

He said the accused’s spouse is a disabled person and they have to support a mother and a nine-year-old child.

Sessions Court judge Azrul Darus allowed bail at RM8,000 in one surety. The case is fixed for mention on Nov 24.
