KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor today announced South Korean Kim Pan Gon as the new head coach of their Super League team.
At the same time, interim coach, Frenchman Christophe Gamel, becomes Selangor technical director, where he will oversee the club’s youth development.
“With Pan Gon’s extensive experience and impressive track record, the club believes that he will carry out his responsibilities as head coach of the Red Giants’ first team successfully and lead Selangor to greater heights,” the club said in a statement.
Pan Gon, 56, coached the national team from 2022-24, guiding Malaysia to qualification for the Asian Cup on merit for the first time since 1980 and helped the nation achieve a memorable 3-3 draw with South Korea at the 2023 Asian Cup, a result that earned widespread praise.
