Erdogan sends well wishes, prayers for Dr Mahathir's recovery


ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has conveyed his well wishes and prayers for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is hospitalised for a hip fracture after suffering a fall recently.

This was shared by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim during a press conference on the sidelines of his three-day official visit to Turkiye.

said Erdogan asked about Dr Mahathir’s condition and prayed for his wellbeing and safety.

“President Tayyip Erdogan also asked about Tun Dr Mahathir’s health.

“I provided a brief update based on what the doctors had conveyed, and he offered his well wishes and prayers for his wellbeing and safety,” he said.

added that Erdogan expressed his intention to personally contact Dr Mahathir to check on his health and offer prayers if his condition improved.

“He agreed that if Tun Mahathir’s condition eases somewhat, he will try to call, ask after him, and pray for him,” he said.

It was reported that Dr Mahathir was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) after a fall at his residence in Seri Kembangan, .

His press secretary, Sufi Yusoff, confirmed that Dr Mahathir would require several weeks of treatment and monitoring in hospital.

The last time Dr Mahathir was admitted to IJN was in July last year due to exhaustion after attending an event in , just days after celebrating his 100th birthday.
