All government hospitals and clinics are to be equipped with an electronic medical record system by 2029, health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said today.
He said a total of 150 hospitals and more than 3,000 clinics will be involved, Bernama reported.
Implementation of the system would be carried out in phases starting next year with 16 hospitals, 25 in 2027, 46 in 2028 and 49 in 2029.
Health clinics will have a cloud-based clinical management system while hospitals will be on the hospital information system under the One Citizen, One Record programme.

So far, 160 health clinics have been equipped with the system, with the number rising to 200 by the end of the year.
By 2029, the system is expected to be operational in more than 3,000 clinics, including maternal and child health clinics, community clinics and rural clinics.
“Health clinics are the backbone of the country’s primary healthcare, and this system is crucial to improving service quality at the community level,” he said in Putrajaya after attending a Madani event.
He said RM76 million has been allocated to upgrade 154 health clinics and rural clinics in Sabah over three years from 2023. Upgrades are close to completion at about 70% of the 154 facilities.
