KOTA KINABALU, Oct 16 — The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the Sabah election period will run from November 15 to November 29.
Nomination Day is scheduled for November 15, with early voting set for November 25.
Polling day will take place on Saturday, November 29.
The announcement comes after the official dissolution of the 16th Sabah State Assembly on October 6.
During a press conference, EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the two-week campaign period will run from the day after nomination until 11.59pm on November 28.
A total of 1,784,843 voters are eligible to cast their ballots, including 1.76 million ordinary voters, 11,697 military personnel and their spouses, and 12,729 police personnel and their spouses.
The EC will mobilise 33,002 election workers across 940 polling centres, involving 3,645 voting streams. The election is expected to cost around RM116.8 million.
Applications for postal voting are now open for all categories, including Malaysians overseas, election staff, media personnel, and security forces.
“To ensure a smooth and transparent process, 25 returning officers and 196 assistants have been appointed, supported by 86 enforcement teams to monitor campaign activities.
The EC will also live-stream selected voting and counting processes on its official Facebook page and launch a “Jom Kita Undi” campaign to encourage voter turnout.
