JOHOR BARU: Johor recorded a drastic decline in the number of cumulative dengue cases with 4,468 in epidemiological week 36 (Epi Week) this year, compared with Epi Week 36 in 2024.

State health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the decline represented 58%, against the 10,650 cases recorded in the corresponding period last year.

He said from the 4,468 cases, 1,412 (31.6%) were epidemic locality cases, while 3,056 cases (68.4%) were non-locality.

“There were no death cases for Epi Week 36, this year, with the cumulative death cases remaining at eight, compared with 17 cases for the corresponding period in 2024,” Ling said in a statement.

He said Johor Baru district has the highest number of cases with 55(75.3%), Kulai took the second spot with five (6.8%), followed by Batu Pahat with four (5.5%).

Ling added Kota Tinggi recorded three cases (4.1%), Kluang and Pontian recorded two cases each (2.7%) and one case in Muar and Tangkak (1.4%) respectively.
