KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong says he will attend Umno‘s annual general assembly next week.
“I will see you there next week,” the Ayer Hitam MP said briefly when asked about the matter on Saturday (Jan 10).
The Umno general assembly is set to be held from Jan 14 to 17 at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur.
This comes amidst recent tensions over relations between MCA and its Barisan Nasional ally Umno.
Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail recently said that the presence of DAP state executive councillors in the Pahang government has made administrative matters easier compared to when MCA was previously part of the coalition.
MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon hit back, saying that the comparison drew a negative perception of MCA.
“To be fair, Wan Rosdy must clarify which aspects he is talking about. This is important so that Pahang MCA will clearly understand.
“As a Barisan component member, Pahang MCA continues working hard for the people and to regain their trust, especially the Chinese community, while defending the party’s moderate ideology,” said Chong, who is also Pahang MCA chairman.
