The granddaughter of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad reportedly lost belongings worth an estimated RM1.8mil after her home in Bukit Ledang was broken into on Wednesday (July 23).

Sources said the incident was discovered around 3 p.m. when the victim’s domestic helper contacted her after noticing that the rear gate had been cut open and the bedroom ransacked.

“The victim inspected the premises and found signs of forced entry into the room. Upon checking, she realised that several valuable items were missing,” the source said.

Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad confirmed the incident when contacted.

“Preliminary estimates indicate losses amounting to RM1.8mil, involving the theft of jewellery from the victim’s bedroom,” he said.

He added that no suspects have been identified yet and investigations are ongoing, including a review of closed-circuit television (CCTV).
