GEORGE TOWN: Two dogs have been rescued from a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) monopole transmission tower surrounded by sea along the Penang Bridge.

Central Seberang Perai Civil Defence Force district officer Capt Mohd Fadhil Zaini said the agency received a distress call about the stranded animals at tower P7 at 9.53am on Saturday (March 7).

A five-man team was immediately deployed to the location, arriving at 10.15am.

“The team carried out the rescue operation with assistance from the Marine Police and nearby fishermen,” he said.

The operation concluded at 11.12am with both dogs successfully brought to safety. Mohd Fadhil added that the dogs are believed to have been abandoned at the monopole.
