SHAH ALAM: A man’s decision to leave his car engine running while he nipped out to the shops proved costly when a thief decided to drive off with the vehicle.
Making matters worse, the owner’s German Shepherd, which was in the car, was also spirited away in the heist.
Hulu Selangor police chief, Superintendent Ibrahim Husin, said they received a report around midnight on Wednesday from a 26-year-old man, who said his vehicle was stolen.
The victim, an aquarium salesman, told police he had driven his Proton Inspira to a 24-hour convenience store in Batang Kali to buy some items.
He said the victim left the engine running as his German Shepherd was in the car.
“When he came out of the shop, he found that his car, together with his dog, had been stolen,” he said.
However, there was some good news for the victim when his dog was later recovered in Petaling Jaya, some 50km away, around 9pm yesterday.
Ibrahim said police are in the midst of tracking down the vehicle and the suspect.
Those with information on the case are advised to contact Hulu Selangor police at 03-60641222.
