Dog crash proves fatal: Langkawi biker succumbs after 32-hour fight for life

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — A 20-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries early today, 32 hours after colliding with a dog on Jalan Bayas in Langkawi, Kedah.

He was pronounced dead at Sultanah Maliha Hospital around 2am, according to Langkawi deputy police chief Superintendent Samsulmuddin Sulaiman, according to Harian Metro today.

The accident happened at about 8.35pm on Saturday when the victim was riding from Kuah town towards Padang Matsirat and hit a dog crossing the road.

“The impact caused him to fall onto the road, sustaining serious head and shoulder injuries as well as internal bleeding in the abdomen.

“He was rushed to hospital for treatment but died more than a day later,” Samsulmuddin said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Earlier, photos of the badly injured victim lying in front of SK Bayas after the crash had circulated online, showing him being helped by members of the public.
