KUALA LUMPUR: 110 poultry were seized during an operation in Central Bandar Utara, Selayang, following a viral social media complaint, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said.

In a statement yesterday, DBKL said 99 chickens and 11 ducks were confiscated by its pest control unit after inspections uncovered multiple offences.

The premises owner was found to have kept live chickens inside, drained chicken blood into public drains, and built illegal cages within the compound.

“The premises were also filthy, reeking of chicken and duck faeces,” DBKL said.

The owner was issued compounds for draining blood into public drains, and the premises were ordered to close immediately.

A notice was issued to clear waste and dismantle the cages.

Members of the public have urged DBKL to conduct regular patrols and checks to prevent such activities from recurring.

“If you always patrol and take action, it will be clean for a long time,” user Mohd Nizam said.

They warned that without strict monitoring, errant operators might resume business, disregarding the rules and laws.

Meanwhile, DBKL said it would continue integrated monitoring and enforcement operations to safeguard public health, city cleanliness, and the people’s welfare.
