Cops shoot down Deer in return leg but fall short on aggregate

KUALA LUMPUR: Negri Sembilan checked into the FA Cup quarter-finals despite losing 1-0 to Police in Friday’s last-16 return leg at the Selayang Stadium.

The Deer, who won the first leg 5-0, progressed 5-1 on aggregate and will face either or Malaysian Universities in the last eight.

Fakhrul Azim Zulphatah struck in the third minute to give the Cops a glimmer of hope in the return leg.

Eddy Gapil’s side had their best chance to build on that in the 58th minute when referee Nawal Zubir awarded the hosts a penalty.

However, Nawaf Abdel Aziz Israiwah fired just over the crossbar, extinguishing any chance of a dramatic comeback.
