KOTA BARU: Police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate and seized 204kg of syabu worth RM6.5mil during a raid in Pasir Mas.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that they also arrested a man in his 20s in an operation from 7pm to 10pm on Aug 25.
He said police found five sacks containing 125 plastic packets labelled as tea and two more sacks filled with plastic packets labelled as “Number One”, all containing syabu and hidden in some nearby bushes.
“Preliminary investigations found that the man was the syndicate’s transporter who delivered drugs from Kampung Terusan by boat and hid it in some nearby undergrowth for other syndicate members to pick up for distribution,” he siad.
he added the syndicate used illegal bases and made Pasir Mas the transit point before the distributing the drugs in the Klang Valley,” he said at a press conference at the Kelantan police headquarters here on Wednesday (Sept 3).
Hussein said the suspect, a sundry shop owner, also tested positive for methamphetamine and has a prior criminal record, including for drugs.
“The suspect has been remanded for 14 days until Sept 8 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. We also seized two vehicles, RM15,700 in cash and RM708 held in bank accounts,” he said.
He said police also seized a sundry shop used as a front for the syndicate’s drug operations, adding that they are tracking down other syndicate members.
“We gathered intelligence for a month in this case. Kelantan continues to be used as the main transit for drug smuggling syndicates through the country’s borders,” he said urging those information can contact the NCID hotline at 012-208 7222. – Bernama
