Cops record statements from five after aunt, nephew found dead in house

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded statements from the neighbours and family members of a 53-year-old woman who was found dead alongside her 25-year-old nephew in a house in Semenyih.

The bodies of the two victims, who police say may have died more than a week ago, were found yesterday.

Kajang police chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, said that no arrests have been made so far.

“Several other witnesses will also be called and are expected to give their statements tomorrow,” he said in a statement today.

The woman and her nephew had not been seen for nearly 10 days. Yesterday, police forced entry into the house after family members lodged a report.

They had suspected something was amiss after smelling a foul odour coming from the house.

There were no signs of forced entry, and the door was found locked from the inside.

A post-mortem revealed the cause of death as asphyxiation. Investigations are still ongoing.

Naazron added that police are still awaiting the results of an analysis of maggot samples sent to the Chemistry Department.

He said the analysis would provide a more accurate estimate of when the victims died.

“However, it is possible that both victims had been dead for more than seven days,” he said.

Naazron said that the bodies have not yet been released to the family as investigations are ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
