KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department raided an entertainment outlet in Lebuh Pudu last night, arresting 27 people for various immigration offences.

City Immigration director Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff said those arrested comprised 10 men and 12 women from Myanmar, three men and one woman from Nepal, and a man from Bangladesh.

Saupee said the outlet, which catered to foreigners, had a security system and three layers of security. The raiding team had to breach the doors to enter.

“When the door was finally breached, the place was empty, but further checks found a secret door leading to the main entertainment area,” he said in a statement.

Saupee said the 12 Myanmar women detained were suspected of working as “guest relations officers”, or GROs, and that customers were charged between RM80 and RM150 for the services.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that sexual services were offered outside the outlet,” he said. “This involved discussions between the GROs and their customers.”

All those arrested were taken to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot for further action under Section 6(1)(c), Section 15(1)(c), and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations for not having a valid pass, overstaying, and misuse of permits.
