Police have launched investigations into two TikTok users for posts deemed to be seditious and misleading.
Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director M Kumar said one case centred on a post about the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir, while the other involved claims linking Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Israel.
“Both account holders have been identified and are not linked to each other. Efforts to track down the suspects are underway,” he said in a statement late last night.
The investigations are being carried out by the classified crimes unit under laws against sedition, causing public unrest, and the misuse of online platforms to spread false or offensive content.
“We warn against creating, uploading, or spreading posts that are seditious, false, or capable of causing public unrest. Offenders will face stern action without compromise,” Kumar said.
