PETALING JAYA:

The Seberang Perai Utara police have launched an investigation into an incident in which a man had hoisted the Malaysian flag upside down.

In a statement, district police chief Anuar Abd Rahman said that the authorities were probing the incident for improper use of emblems and names, insulting behaviour and improper use of network facilities.

“Police have recorded the statements of the complainant as well as the suspect involved in the incident.”

The video, which was uploaded today at about 12.30pm, depicts one man hoisting the Jalur Gemilang, while another recording it.

A report was subsequently lodged at the Kepala Batas police station.
