PETALING JAYA:

Police have launched an investigation into an incident where a group of people were seen in a video manhandling a teenager at a theme park in Genting Highlands, Pahang, yesterday.

Bentong police chief Zaiham Kahar confirmed receiving two reports from the parties involved, at about 12.06am and 12.37am today.

“The reports were made by a man and the teenager involved, aged 42 and 15 respectively,” he said in a statement.

He said preliminary investigations found no criminal elements and that the incident likely stemmed from a misunderstanding.

“Statements from both parties have been recorded and I hope the public will refrain from speculating,” he added.

The video, uploaded on Facebook, showed a group of people allegedly dragging a teenager across the floor of the theme park before a police officer stepped in and shielded him.

The teenager sat against a wall while the policeman stood between him and another man.

One of the individuals, who allegedly manhandled the teen, was later seen pointing at him and yelling, while the policeman was heard repeatedly saying: “Don’t hit him, let me handle this.”
