KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down a prisoner who has gone missing from the Licensed Release of Prisoners (PBSL) programme in the Desa Coalfields area in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a report on the missing prisoner on parole, M. Devan, 39, was received at 11pm Friday (Aug 29).
He said the prisoner was serving a 12-month prison sentence at the Kajang Prison for an offence under Section 379A of the Penal Code (motor vehicle theft) and is now suspected to have absconded from the supervision of the Wangsa Maju District Parole and Community Services Office in Kuala Lumpur.
“A search was conducted by the parole office, but the Licensed Free Person (OBB) could not be found,” he said in a statement here Saturday (Aug 31).
“A check was also conducted at police stations, but there was no record of arrest or detention of the OBB in any police lockup. A check at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Selayang Hospital also found no such record of admission.”
Mohd Hafiz said Devan’s family also confirmed that the prisoner did not return home.
