KUALA LUMPUR:

Police are tracking down a prisoner who has gone missing from a parole programme in the Desa Coalfields area of Sungai Buloh, .

District police chief Hafiz Nor said the missing parolee, M Devan, 39, had been serving a 12-month prison sentence at Kajang prison for motor vehicle theft.

He is suspected to have absconded from the supervision of the Wangsa Maju parole and community services office in Kuala Lumpur.

Devan could not be found after a search by the parole office, and a check at police lockups and hospitals in Kuala Lumpur and Selayang. Devan’s family had also confirmed that the prisoner did not return home.
