Police busted a syndicate distributing MDMA in electronic cigarette liquids, worth RM1.48 million, in seven raids throughout the Klang Valley last Friday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said nine people, aged between 24 and 34, including a Thai woman, were arrested in the raids.
He said investigations found the syndicate used luxury condominium units with gated and guarded security as processing and storage sites, while employing couriers to distribute the drugs.
“We seized 3.5kg of MDMA, 7.6 litres of MDMA cartridges and bottles containing an estimated 39 litres of MDMA liquid.
“We believe the syndicate, active since late last year, was distributing drugs through conventional means to targeted customers, with some supplies reaching areas outside the Klang Valley,” Bernama reported him as saying at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters today.
Fadil said investigations found each 15ml vape cartridge was sold at between RM100 and RM200.
He said police also confiscated various vehicles, luxury watches, branded handbags and RM1.5 million in cash.
Fadil said urine tests on all the suspects came back negative for drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act for trafficking drugs.
Five of the suspects have been remanded for seven days until tomorrow, while applications to remand the remaining four were rejected.
