SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — Police are waiting for the full report from the technical expert before taking further action in connection with the recent accident at the Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza that resulted in the death of a baby and injuries to seven others.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the case required in-depth scrutiny as it involved investigations by many agencies and was technical in nature.
“The investigation paper has been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) office, and, at this level, we have been instructed to obtain an expert’s report first before specific instructions are given by the DPP,” he said.
He said this at a media conference on the Achievements of the Selangor Narcotics Crime Investigation Department here today.
Shazeli said the 42-year-old suspect, who was the lorry driver involved, has been freed on police bail, while the statements of all those involved had been recorded.
In the Sept 27 accident, which occurred at about 10.50 am, a 16-month-old boy was killed while seven others were injured when a lorry experiencing brake failure collided with the car they were travelling in.
Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof had said that the accident, involving four vehicles – a lorry, a car and two sport utility vehicles – was believed to have occurred when the lorry carrying scrap iron from Semenyih to Putrajaya experienced brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the three other vehicles headed towards the toll plaza. — Bernama
