KUALA LANGAT: A traffic policeman was injured after being hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle while escorting an international delegation for the 47th Asean Summit at KM22.3 near the Dengkil Rest and Service (R&R) Area exit, northbound on the Elite Highway, today.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the incident occurred at 1.10pm while the officer was performing escort duties for an official convoy.

“The victim, a 35-year-old corporal riding a police Kawasaki GTR motorcycle, suffered a broken left leg as well as injuries to his left ankle and knee.

“He was taken to Cyberjaya Hospital for further treatment,” he said when contacted today.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He also reminded the public to exercise caution and remain alert to police convoy movements throughout the duration of the Asean Summit.

Earlier, a video clip went viral showing the officer on a motorcycle being struck by a four-wheel drive vehicle on the left lane of the highway.
