SEREMBAN: The controversial monument in Bandar Tasik Senangin, Lenggeng — believed by some residents to have links to the Freemason organisation — was demolished by the landowner.

Lenggeng assemblyman Datuk Mohd Asna Amin said he was informed of the development by the Seremban City Council (MBS).

“MBS told me that the landowner instructed his workers to demolish the monument to ease public concerns.

“I hope this will put the matter to rest, and I urge residents to remain calm,” he said when contacted today.

Earlier, Mohd Asna said the structure was believed to have been dismantled around 7.30pm by unidentified persons as night began to fall.

Police were informed about the incident around 8.20pm after officers arrived at the scene and took photographs.

The demolition is believed to have occurred sometime after 7.30pm.

Previously, residents had voiced unease over the presence of the monument, which they claimed resembled symbols associated with the Freemason organisation.

MBS had earlier stated that the structure was built on private land and that a notice had been issued under the Local Government Act 1976.
