Continuous heavy rain forecast for Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued continuous heavy rain warnings across several states, with placed under a high alert due to expected severe rainfall.

According to an advisory issued at 11am, very heavy and continuous rain is forecast for the districts of Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Bachok, and Pasir Puteh in until Tuesday (Nov 25).

Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, heavy rain warnings have been issued for other areas, including Perlis, Kedah, Perak, , and Terengganu, covering districts such as Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik, Baling, Hulu Perak, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai, Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, and Dungun.

These conditions are also expected to persist until Tuesday.

An advisory has also been issued for areas expected to receive continuous rain at lower intensity, including Kedah (Yan, Kuala Muda, Kulim, Bandar Baharu), Penang, and parts of Perak such as Kerian, Larut, Matang dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim, until Monday.

Additional areas under watch include Gua Musang in Kelantan and Kemaman in Terengganu, where rain is expected to continue until Wednesday, Nov 26.

The Meteorological Department urges the public to stay alert, avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas, and monitor updates from local authorities for any changes in weather conditions.
