KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 — A container inspector was killed after being struck by a forklift at a company premises in Banting on Thursday.
The accident happened at about 3.14pm as the man was standing in front of a container taking photographs.
The Selangor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) said CCTV footage showed the forklift moving towards the victim before hitting him.
“At the time, the forklift’s clamper was being rotated, blocking the driver’s view,” the department said in a statement yesterday.
DOSH said a team of officers was sent to the site to investigate after it was alerted to the incident.
“The victim was pronounced dead by a medical officer from Banting Hospital,” it added.
A prohibition notice was issued to preserve the scene under Section 15(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 until investigations are completed.
A separate notice was also served on the employer for failing to put in place effective controls on forklift movements inside the storage warehouse.
