KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has reportedly urged the developer of the Kampung Sungai Baru redevelopment project to immediately complete two housing blocks promised to residents eight years ago.
Johari, who is also plantation and commodities minister, said this was vital to restore confidence that the developer had the financial strength to finish the project and allow displaced families to return, Kosmo! reported today.
“Over 300 residents have moved out, with only 14 families still in terrace houses,” he was quoted as saying
“The developer must first complete two new blocks using the site of the old flat blocks that have been demolished and cleared,” he reportedly added.
Johari repotedly stressed that delays had caused anxiety among residents and warned that if the developer could not proceed, it should discuss options with UDA Holdings Berhad.
He also noted that the Land Acquisition Act 1960 was used to merge flats and terrace houses for redevelopment despite objections from some residents.
