SURABAYA, Indonesia, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) — China settled for the fifth place at the 2025 FIVB Women’s U21 Volleyball World Championship here on Sunday after defeating Poland 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-23,25-17) in the classification match.
After losing a close first set, China responded in the second with improved defense and counterattacks to level the score. The Chinese team rode the momentum to take the third set, before maintaining firm control in the fourth to seal the victory.
According to the statistics, China scored 51 attacking points, almost equal to Poland’s 50. China also led slightly in blocking 13-12, while both sides had five service points. Crucially, China gained 29 points from the opponent’s errors, compared with Poland’s 19.
Also on Sunday, Italy defeated Japan 3-2 to claim the championship, while Brazil overcame Bulgaria 3-1 to take the bronze medal.
