ChargeSini has updated its idle fee policy for its EV chargers and users are now given more than sufficient time to move their vehicles after charging is completed.
The idle fee is intended to discourage hogging of EV chargers by imposing a penalty fee if users don’t move their vehicles once charging has stopped. The move ensures higher charger availability and to discourage users from treating the EV charging bay as a parking lot.
Previously, ChargeSini provided a grace period of 15 minutes and they are now extending it to 30 minutes after charging has ended.

According to ChargeSini, the revision was made following customer feedback as it may take a longer time to return to their vehicles in large venues such as shopping malls, offices and charging hubs.
However, the idle fee rate remain unchanged as ChargeSini imposes a penalty of RM1.00 per 5 minutes. This means, customers will be charged RM6 (30 minutes) if they don’t move their vehicle one hour after charging is completed or RM12 (60 hours) for the subsequent hours.
In certain locations such as MyTown Shopping Centre, the Idle Fee is higher at RM2.00 per 5 minutes.

Take note that the idle fees are only charged if the ChargeSini location hits 50% capacity. This means if a location has 3 chargers but only 1 is occupied, the idle fee isn’t applicable.
In addition, most EV charging locations on ChargeSini’s network also offer an idle fee cut off time between 12:00am to 9:00am. The cut off time allows users to charge their EVs overnight and not to worry about moving their vehicles in the early hours of the morning once charging is completed.
