KUALA LUMPUR: China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) has contributed RM12 million to sponsor Malaysian students under an industrial skills training programme for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said trainees under the Industrial Skills Training Programme (PLKI-ECRL) are guaranteed employment with the ECRL upon completion of their training.
“Through this programme, locals are not only trained to contribute during the construction phase of the ECRL but are also prepared for roles in the operations and maintenance (O&M) phase,” he said.
Having begun during the construction phase, the PLKI-ECRL is now transitioning to support the upcoming O&M phase, with a target of benefiting 3,200 trainees through skills development and job opportunities.
