PETALING JAYA, Nov 5 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has intensified enforcement against illegal waste dumping by identifying 43 hotspots across the city.

Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon visited one such location at Jalan SS 3/29 on Nov 3 to review ongoing surveillance and enforcement efforts.

MBPJ has installed mobile closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at 16 of these sites to monitor offenders and deter further violations.

The council said the initiative combines education and enforcement to create a cleaner, safer and greener city in line with the Petaling Jaya Smart Sustainable and Resilient (PJSSR) 2030 vision.

It said operations have been stepped up with targeted patrols and real-time CCTV monitoring to catch offenders in the act.

Mohamad Zahri said that those caught dumping waste illegally will face strict action under existing local laws.

Residents were also urged to help maintain the city’s cleanliness by reporting illegal dumping activities to MBPJ’s hotline at 03-7954 2020.
