KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — The commotion behind a resident’s house in Kampung Gua Reban, Kupang, early this morning revealed a python devouring chickens in a coop.
Chief of the Baling Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil, said they received a call reporting the incident at 6.28am, according to a report published by Berita Harian.
He added that a team led by Juhairi Osman, along with six members, arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.
“Upon arrival, the python was still inside the chicken coop, devouring the livestock.
“It took the firefighters about an hour to catch the reptile because it was acting aggressively,” he said when contacted today.
Zulkhairi said his team had to use a long snare rod to capture the four-metre python, which tried to coil around them.
“The operation ended at 7.45am. We advise residents to remain vigilant during unpredictable weather and to contact rescue teams for assistance in catching snakes,” he added.
