Seventeen-year-old British teenager David Balisong, who was found at a hotel on Jalan Pudu in Kuala Lumpur after being missing for three months, will return to the UK today.
Selangor Police chief Shazeli Kahar said the case is considered closed after Balisong was handed over to his mother yesterday, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“Investigations found no criminal or misconduct elements in this case. The teenager was handed over to his mother after the police completed their investigation,” he was quoted as saying.
Balisong was found by a team from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters on Thursday night.
The A-level student had vanished from his home in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, in the UK on June 6, before secretly boarding a one-way flight to Malaysia.
Balisong had left home early that day, telling his brother he had school matters to deal with, but flew alone from Manchester to Kuala Lumpur instead.
He then switched off his phone and refused to respond to emails.
Balisong’s last known contact before this was on July 9, when he emailed his mother, asking her not to worry and to stop searching for him, and apologising for his actions while wishing his family success in life.
