PETALING JAYA: The High Commission of Canada in Malaysia has extended warm wishes to Malaysians in conjunction with Malaysia Day.

In a post on its Facebook page Tuesday (Sept 16), it said Malaysia’s journey from independence in 1957 to the formation of the nation in 1963 was a story of unity in diversity.

Canadian high commissioner Jodi Robinson, who visited the Tunku Abdul Rahman Memorial at Arkib Negara Malaysia, also reflected on the country’s enduring legacy.

“Standing at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Memorial, we are reminded of Malaysia’s journey from independence in 1957 to the formation of a vibrant and inclusive nation in 1963.

“Malaysia’s strength lies in its cultures, languages and traditions woven together by mutual respect and shared aspirations.

“This stands as a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Malaysian people,” she said in a video attached to the post.

She added that Canada cherishes the friendship between the two nations and celebrates Malaysia’s steadfast commitment to diversity.

“I send my warmest wishes to all Malaysians for a joyful and reflective Malaysia Day. Selamat Hari Malaysia!” she added.
