BALIK PULAU, Oct 24 — A male facilitator was charged in the Magistrates’ Court here today with three counts of physically sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy two weeks ago.

Mohamad Firdaus Abdul Shukor, 33, pleaded not guilty to all charges before Magistrate Chia Huey Ting.

The father of two was accused of committing the offences at a camp in Kampung Genting between 4.09am and 4.30am on October 12.

The charges were framed under Sections 14(a) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carry a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

The court later referred the case to the Sessions Court for the bail process and fixed October 28 for mention and the appointment of counsel.

Deputy public prosecutor R Lushani appeared for the prosecution, while Mohamad Firdaus was unrepresented. — Bernama
