After teasing its next debut, BYD Malaysia has confirmed that the next model is going to be the Seal 6 EV, also known as the Qin L EV in China. The debut of the sedan in the local market marks its first international launch.
This sedan was first introduced in China in March this year. Compared to the Seal available in the local market, this mid-size sedan appears less sporty in design and is also smaller in size. However, since the model is being rebadged from the Qin L EV to the Seal 6 EV, it is not yet confirmed whether the local market will receive the exact specifications as the version sold in China.

Nevertheless, for reference, the mid-size sedan is available in three variants in China, divided according to the range offered by the vehicle, and is built on the automaker’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo. In terms of design, the taillights feature the “infinity” light signature, similar to the Atto 2. In addition, the Seal 6 EV is expected to feature a full-width L-shaped light bar at the front. Inside, the sedan may be powered by BYD’s DiLink 100 smart cockpit system. It will feature an 8.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch floating central display.
In terms of performance, the sedan offers two rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor options, with outputs of 110 kW / 220 Nm of torque and 160 kW / 330 Nm, respectively. The first option is paired with a 46.08 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering a CLTC range of 470 km. Meanwhile, the second option comes with a 56.64 kWh Blade battery, providing a CLTC range of 545 km.
The Seal 6 EV may also be equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” C (DiPilot 100) driver assistance suite. This system utilises a three-camera setup to deliver features such as high-speed navigation on autopilot, intelligent parking, automatic emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring, along with several other advanced functions.
We still don’t know the local pricing for the Seal 6 EV, but as details are expected to be revealed on 26 September, we won’t have to wait long . That said, many are expecting it to be lower, given its comparably smaller stature to the Seal.
