PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman has recorded statements from two Press editors regarding the alleged mistranslation of a royal address made by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, during the opening of Parliament’s new session.

In a statement Wednesday (Jan 21), Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the statement recording session occurred earlier Wednesday at around 1pm.

“The case is being investigated by Bukit Aman’s Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (USJT), D5 Division, under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“The investigation is still ongoing, and the public is urged not to speculate on the matter while the police complete their investigation to respect the principles of criminal justice in this country,” he said.

On Tuesday (Jan 20), Communications Minister Datuk Fadzil said that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is also investigating the online report by Press.
