BUDI95 To Provide Up To RM200 Monthly Savings For Malaysians – Amir Hamzah

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 (Bernama) — The implementation of the Budi MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy programme for eligible Malaysians will provide savings of up to around RM200 per month, says Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

He said the reduction of RON95 petrol price to RM1.99 per litre reflected the government’s commitment to alleviating the people’s cost of living burden, as aspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim.

“The Prime Minister is indeed focused on the people’s cost of living through BUDI95. The price reduction to RM1.99, as promised, is aimed at helping the people manage living costs.

“In the past one to two months, the actual market price of RON95 has been between RM2.60 and RM2.75, so when we buy petrol at the pump, the government has already provided a significant subsidy.

“If the pump price is RM2.60, the people save nearly RM183.00 a month. If it is RM2.75, the savings amount to RM228.00 per month,” he said at a media briefing on BUDI95 today.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced that the RON95 petrol price would remain at RM1.99 per litre starting Sept 30 for Malaysians, regardless of income level.

Through BUDI95, Amir Hamzah said the government also stood to save between RM2.5 billion and RM4 billion, depending on fluctuations in global oil prices.

“We cannot predict the exact savings for the government as it depends on whether oil prices remain stable or rise,” he said.

All Malaysian citizens with a valid driving licence are eligible for the RON95 subsidy, involving more than 16 million people.

Eligibility can be checked online starting this Thursday via the official portal www.budimadani.gov.my , at the BUDI95 Customer Service Centre, or through the Setel and CaltexGO applications after the identity verification process is completed.
