KUALA LUMPUR: The increase of RM1.7bil in funds for the Home Ministry in Budget 2026 signifies its crucial role in strengthening national unity and security.
The ministry said it has been allocated RM21.2bil under Budget 2026.
“It is an increase of RM1.7bil or 8.71% compared to RM19.5bil in the previously.
“The ministry said the higher allocation underscores its crucial role as a catalyst in the Madani Economic Framework, especially in national unity and security,” it said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 11).
The funds will be utilised on readiness and asset upgrades for uniformed bodies under the ministry, it added.
“We welcome the funds for the ministry and its agencies.
“The budget reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding public security, strengthening border control, combating cyber and sexual crimes, and enhancing the welfare of enforcement personnel in line with the Malaysia Madani vision, which aims to ensure all Malaysians live with dignity, protected rights and a good quality of life,” the ministry said.
The ministry said Budget 2026 demonstrates the government’s seriousness in empowering enforcement agencies to better protect public welfare, curb revenue leakages, tighten anti-smuggling measures and enhance joint operations involving security forces.
“To face future challenges and safeguard national sovereignty and public order, the ministry will continue working with the government to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services to the people.
“The funds will further strengthen Malaysia’s enforcement agencies, ensuring a more resilient and inclusive future for all Malaysians,” it said.
Among the key highlights of the funds are over RM700mil allocated collectively for enforcement agencies, including the police, for training and asset upgrades as well as RM1bil for the maintenance and procurement of assets for police and other uniformed bodies.
A further RM1.5bil was set aside to construct and upgrade facilities including three new General Operations Force (GOF) posts in Selangor and upgrading various Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) complexes.
The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) was allocated RM45mil to strengthen national borders and support the hiring of 220 staff, prioritising military veterans.
