British teenager David Balisong, who was found safe at a hotel last night after going missing three months ago, left his home in the UK following a disagreement with his family, according to police.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said Balisong was found at the hotel in Jalan Pudu after police received a tip-off by philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, or better known as Uncle Kentang.
“The teen said that he left his home because of a disagreement with his family and arrived in Malaysia on June 6.
“We are in the midst of taking further statements from the teenager,” Fadil said in a statement.
The A-level student vanished from his home in Cheadle, Greater Manchester in the UK on June 6 before secretly boarding a one-way flight to Malaysia.
He left home early that day, telling his brother he had school matters to deal with but flying alone from Manchester to KL instead.
He then switched off his phone and refused to respond to emails.
Balisong’s last known contact before this was on July 9, when he emailed his mother, asking her not to worry and to stop searching for him, and apologising for his actions while wishing his family success in life.
