KUALA LUMPUR: Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun’s bid for a maiden World Championships medal ended in the quarter-finals after they were beaten 23-21, 21-23, 21-15 by ‘s world No. 1 Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae in Paris on Friday.

The world No. 7 fought valiantly in the opening game, clawing back from 18-13 down before holding game points twice at 20-19 and 21-20, only to let it slip 23-21.

Wei Chong-Kai Wun then showed tremendous character in the second, saving two match points at 20-18 before forcing deuce and snatching it 23-21 to level the contest.

In the decider, however, Won Ho-Seung Jae never relinquished control. Though the Malaysians stayed close at 12-11, the Koreans pulled away with a blistering run to 19-12 and never looked back, sealing the match 21-15 at the Adidas Arena.

The result gave the world No. 1 pair their third straight win over Wei Chong-Kai Wun.

Despite the defeat, Wei Chong-Kai Wun can take pride in achieving their best-ever result at the world meet, improving on their last-16 finish on debut in 2023.
