PETALING JAYA: The male Form Three student who is believed to have fallen from the third floor of a dormitory at a Sabak Bernam school is more stable and showing positive responses in hospital, says the government.

In a statement Saturday, state public health and environment committee chairman Jalaiah Jamaluddin said that according to feedback from the Health Department, the student is currently still receiving intensive care treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“He has undergone a special procedure to control pressure on the brain, and this emergency treatment was successfully completed within the first 48 hours.

“As of the third day post-treatment, the student’s condition is reported to be more stable and showing some positive responses,” she said, adding that the medical team continues to monitor his progress closely.

She added that the government expresses its sympathy and prayers for the student’s speedy recovery. It also urged all parties to give the family space and to refrain from making or spreading any speculation that could affect them.

Jamaliah added that the state government and the state Health Department would continue to monitor the student’s health and recovery as well as provide the necessary support for the family.

Earlier, the media reported that the police have launched an investigation into a case of a Form Three student who is believed to have fallen from the third floor of a school dormitory in Sabak Bernam.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the probe would cover various aspects, including student safety, dormitory management, as well as the social background of the victim and his peers.

The police have also urged the public not to make assumptions that could disrupt the investigation process or affect the emotions of the victim’s family.
