BALING: A search and rescue operation has been initiated after a 12-year-old boy was reported to fallen into the water while fishing at a sand quarry near Taman Mesra Ria today.
Baling fire station chief Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said a team was despatched to the scene after the department received a distress call at 4.30pm.
“Upon arrival, we were informed by witnesses and acquaintances of the victim that he had slipped and fallen into the quarry while fishing,” he said in a statement today.
He said the department has since mobilised its water rescue team to the area to assist with the operation.
“The search and rescue operation is still ongoing,” he added.
