KUALA LUMPUR: A search and rescue team has recovered the body of a 47-year-old man who drowned while bathing in Sungai Cherandong, Kampung Orang Asli Buloh Telur, near Kuala Kubu Baru.

Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the victim’s body was discovered this morning lodged against a tree near a campsite.

“His body was found at 10.53am lodged against a tree in the water near Campsite Rimba Bayu, about 300 metres from where he was believed to have fallen,” he said in a statement.

District police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Husin said a report was lodged at 12.45am by the victim’s younger brother, who believed his sibling had gone missing in the river.

He said the victim had been bathing with a friend before the incident occurred.
